Transfer of International Grades into the German Grading System

Admission to some degree courses requires a minimum grade, e.g. in your Bachelor degree. International Office will transfer your GPA into the German grading scale by using the "Bavarian formula". With the calculator below you can transfer your grade yourself into the German grading scale to give you a first idea if you are eligible or not. The relevant mimimum and maximum grades for your country can be found in the data base Anabin (section "Bildungsnachweise").

Please note that this may serve only as orientation. The final decision if you are eligible or not depends on various factors and will be taken by International Office.

Bavarian Formula

This calculator, based on the "Bavarian Formula" helps you to find out where you range within the German grading system.

Maximum grade (Nmax) minus the grade you reached (Nd), divided through maximum grade minus lowest sufficient grade (Nmin), then multiply the result by three, plus 1.
